NIEAPA is successful due to our engaged and dedicated membership. Every other month, the membership committee's "Member Spotlight" blog series will feature and thank some of our most engaged members.
This month's "Member Spotlight" interviewed Kathleen Horton. Kathleen took some time with us to share her experiences and appreciation for NIEAPA:
I joined NIEAPA in 1995 after getting my first job in the Employee Assistance field with ARCHEUS, Inc. My boss encouraged me to get involved with the association so that I could network with colleagues and learn best practices from some of the leaders in the field.
My involvement with NIEAPA grew while working at Employee Resources Systems, Inc. (now AllOne Health) as I became a Board Member and then held the position of Secretary for 4 years. NIEAPA consistently offered cutting edge training opportunities that helped me grow my professional skill set as an EA clinician and Account Manager and build meaningful relationships with those in the treatment world where I now work as a Professional Relations Coordinator with Rosecrance Behavioral Health.
My favorite experience is any opportunity that I have to be in the same room with my NIEAPA colleagues. I am lucky enough to call many of them close friends. That friendship, that bond, is what makes NIEAPA so special.
