Students and New Professionals

NIEAPA welcomes students to our Chapter! We offer a number of opportunities to learn more about the field of employee assistance, network with professionals and advance your career. Peruse materials online to gain in-depth knowledge about the fundamentals of EAP, and join us in person at a Chapter meeting or at our annual Conference.

What is EAP?

Learn about the field on the national EAP Association website. You will find information about the EAP Core TechnologiesProgram StandardsCode of EthicsCode of Conduct. You can also find webinars on a variety of EAP related information and read more about the CEAP certification process.

Is there a student membership?
Yes! Students can join NIEAPA at a reduced rate here and get some of the same great benefits of professional membership, including access to our members-only listserv.

Is there a mentorship program?
Yes! This is a free program for students, new and transitioning professionals. The program is designed to get you connected with a NIEAPA member who can provide career guidance, networking opportunities and help you to gain familiarity with NIEAPA. You can meet with your mentor in person or over the phone, a minimum of two times. We will do our best to match you with a mentor that meets your needs, and we will accommodate specific requests when possible. The mentorship program is separate from CEAP advisement and is not clinical supervision. Please Click Here to get started today!

How can I get involved?
The best way to learn more about the EAP field is to attend one of our Chapter meetings. Students can attend for FREE. Our annual Conference also offers a full day of educational sessions on a variety of EAP and behavioral health related topics. Students can volunteer at our annual Conference and in other capacities.

Stay tuned for student volunteer opportunities!

Who can I contact?
Priscilla Murphy Kang, chair of the student outreach committee, can provide guidance into other opportunities and answer most student-related questions.
